The Amalfi Coast includes the coastal areas ranging from Vietri sul Mare up to Positano interiors and villages along a route of about fifty kilometers.
It takes its name from the town of Amalfi, the core of the Coast not only geographically but also historically. The Amalfi Coast is known for its diversity: each country's coast has its own character and traditions.
The peak of the coast has had in the era of ancient Rome in various locations where the Roman patricians decided to establish their residence.
Later a second period of historical importance has had with the Republic of Amalfi, Repubblica Maritime together in Pisa, Genoa and Venice, that history is still relived every year with the famous regattas, folk famous historic event worldwide.
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most sought after by people all over the world, just mention Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, places from superb beautiful landscapes, as well as caskets filled with history, the Countries of the Amalfi Coast are meta goatskin and tourists, including artists, the goal is to people in search of sun and sea of peace that young people looking for entertainment and nightlife.
The local tradition has it that during the eighteenth century, in the Convent of Santa Rosa, located on the highest of Conca dei Marini, was known invented the Neapolitan cake "sfogliatella the" sort by patient hands of the pie nuns of the convent. According to the original recipe was the puff pastry filled with a soft stuffed with ricotta and candied fruit, garnished with cherry marmalade.
UNESCO World Heritage site and are part of thirteen cities: Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minor, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Sunsets and Vietri Sul Mare.
