CONVENT OF ST BARTHOLOMEW
In emerging geographic position, at the foot of Castle Gerione, lies the imposing Convent of Dominican friars of St. Bartholomew.
The structure, built between the XII and XIII century, has retained the distinctive character of which was erected.
In 1573 the convent lived an important and culturally relevant stayed, in fact, the heretic Giordano Bruno monaco.
During World War II the building was the scene of a historic event: it was among the first large concentration camps for internees civil war, hosting lovingly, from 1940 to 1943, a large number of Jews persecuted by the racial laws.
Next to the monastery is the Church of San Bartolomeo.
The interior is rich in valuable works of art: the sixteenth century reliquary includes a piece of Spina Santa and the wood of the Cross of Christ and, again, a splinter of stone Sepulcher;
tronetto with the monstrance, made by silversmiths of the eighteenth century Neapolitan;
the pavement in typical Vietri ceramics dating to half of, the wooden ceiling coffered gilded, inlaid and carved, also eighteenth century, the precious wooden altar of the seventeenth century, in pure gold and valuable.
Particularly relevant to the folk tradition, the miracle worker of the fourteenth century wooden crucifix, dressed and veiled, which comes out in procession every seven years at events (war, Jubilees)
or specific disasters (heavy rains, prolonged droughts, earthquakes, famine, pestilence).
The sad period of the plague of 1656 saw protagonist Monsignor Giuseppe Maria Avila, bishop of the 1649 campaign from 1656.
Avila was up against a terrible situation for more pay and, after giving comfort to many appestati, also died "ex lue contagious."
The eminent prelate Dominican, was transported to hand over a chair dall'Episcopio in San Bartolomeo, as in procession, accompanied by a few priests and monks.
He was buried in the oratory of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Name of God, still stands and where his mummified body continues to defy the centuries.
Strangely the remains are preserved well: the sacred vestments, just discolored, made up of material are still clearly visible.
The drop in the "catacombs" of Countryside, between faith, magic, popular beliefs and mistificazioni, is particularly charming.

SHRINE OF ST MARY'S Avigliano
Giovanni d'Apia, the first lord of Angevin Campaign in age, were apparently buried in a church dedicated to Our Lady of Avigliano, whose construction is traced back to 1240 when, according to legend, there was found the simulacrum of a Madonna from a Church of the land of Avigliano in Lucania.
That tradition does not, however, documented confirmation.
It was evidently created to give greater prestige to the church, located about five hundred meters in height between the mountains, five kilometers from hamlets in the campaign, but in a good position to allow the influx of pilgrims from surrounding areas inside.
The daughter of Count Giovanni, Isabella d'Balzo of Apia, said that the pontiff was allowed to build on the site of primitive factory, a church and convent of the Franciscan fathers to offer and thus to replace existing.
The building, according to tradition, appears to have hosted (between 1440 and 1443) S. Bernardine of Siena.
Some frescoes bear the date of 1575.
The following centuries saw several changes in the complex, composed of the church and the convent, the interior bears obvious traces of the centuries-old history of the building and the many transformations which was subject.
The columns and times are parties survivors (along all'acquasantiera formed from a medieval column) of primitive, fourteenth-century building, whose location or size is impossible to make any assumptions.
